Who We Are
AllforOne fosters and proliferates the
reduction of gang violence throughout Santa Barbara County. Our life experiences are key elements
in teaching prospective and active gang members, at-risk youth and junior
mentors. Through mentor
training, youth community awareness, youth advocacy and access to alternative
social and educational activities. AllforOne is a three-component
collaboration working together and creating the AllforOne program. The three components are:
Hoods in the Woods (The New Territories Project) Started in 1991
A grassroots and the father to the
rest of the program. The program is geared toward stopping gang violence by
breaking the territorial mentality some young people have and replacing it
with team cooperation and community through various workshops, special
speakers and mentors who have lived that mentality themselves. The program is
an effective strategy in reducing gang violence and criminal activity,
alcohol and drug abuse also by providing alternate life choices. Takes gang
members and at-risk youth of different communities and neighborhoods
(Carpinteria, Eastside, Westside, Isla Vista, Goleta, and Lompoc) into new
territories together!
All for One-
Very unique aspect part of the program, the first of its kind. All for One
Youth Mentoring Gang Violence Prevention Program is the only mentoring
program on the South Coast that uses ex-gang members, as it's primary mentor
base. The mentors are put through special training classes, through each step
of the overall purpose of the program. Before any major trips the mentors
attend first-aid hands-on workshops at the Santa Barbara County Fire
Department. The goal of All for One is to eliminate and prevent gang violence
throughout Santa Barbara. Hoods in the Woods, All for One, and Mi Gente are all in collaborates together and exist because of the youth they serve. Mi Gente is a program which provides gang and at risk youth with support and solutions to their problems by showing them the big picture of life. The program uses mentors and special planned trips and events, such as the New Territories Project to prevent gang violence throughout Santa Barbara County. |
